About Us
"Pelion Culture" is owned and operated by Yota Pantou.
Yota was born and raised in Volos, Thessaly. She got a BA in Archaeology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and worked as a field archaeologist in Greece for several years. Her passion for traveling, writing, and research led her eventually to the USA where she obtained her MA and PhD degree in Mediterrenean Archaeology from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Her research on Mycenaean Greece was published in the American Journal of Archaeology and other prestigious journals.
From 2007-2009, Yota was a fellow at the American School of Classical Studies at Athens and had the opportunity to travel and study most archaeological sites and museums in Greece and Cyprus. For several years she taught Latin in elementary and middle schools in Denver, Colorado.
In 2015, Yota returned to her hometown and obtained her license as a tour guide from the Greek Ministry of Tourism (license ID No 33TA02321E1). In 2016, she created "Pelion Culture" (www.pelionculture.gr) a boutique tour guide business focused on archaeological and cultural tours in the city of Volos and the Pelion region.
Collaborating with other execellent professionals (drivers, tour guides, etc), Yota and her team have offered hundreds of successful and unique guided tours to a variety of guests (schools, families, independent travelers, etc.) of multiple nationalities.
