Kato Gatzea
On a summer evening we invite you to make a turn on the narrow street leading to the sea-side village of Kato Gatzea. Park your car at the end of the road and pass by the barricades that prevent cars from entering the waterfront of the village. Your journey to the paradise on earth starts from here.
As the night slowly falls above the village, enjoy a relaxing stroll literally next to the calm sea. Well-kept front yards of traditional houses with mulberry trees and blooming jasmine, abandoned buildings and olive warehouses, taverns and bar restaurants, newly built yet elegant luxury villas all create a harmonious and purely Greek landscape that radiates serenity and calmness.
By the time you reach the end of the waterfront, the sky should be full of bright twinkling stars. Turn around, pick a restaurant, order a cold beer and relax, allowing the unparalleled beauty of the surroundings to suck you in. You will catch yourself talking in a low voice. Small lights will be popping on the hills around you and the mountains become a protective nest. The moonlight on the sea is the only distraction. Boats of all sizes carrying vacationers and fishermen come and go. Imagine Jason and the Argonauts sailing by Kato Gatzea on their way to Colchis to retrieve the Golden Fleece. They were looking at the same mountains and hills as their vessel passed near the Pelion peninsula.
Nowhere else in Pelion will allow you to feel as if you are on one of the islands while being only 12 kilometers from the city of Volos.
